Lucky days! Somehow the stars aligned, and the service work for the Pucca TV Series came to Vancouver. More than service work, actually - Studio B was in charge of everything from scripting on up. I've been a fan of Pucca since the start, when it was one of the first Flash-based web-cartoons, so I was pretty happy to be able to sneak my way onto the crew.

I started as an animator, but someone had the poor sense to offer me a Lead Animator position. On the one hand, it would mean more managing and less animating, but on the other it meant I could have a greater say in making sure the series stuck true to the original spirit.

You can be the judge as to whether or not we succeeded in that aspect, but Pucca definitely turned out to be a very energetic, very exciting show, and I'm generally happy with the animation. I didn't get to animate a lot of footage myself, but I did keep a couple scenes for myself, and I've cut some of my favorites into a little reel, above.

If you can't see the video, you may need to download the latest version of Quicktime, as I've tried using the fancy new H.264 codec for this.
